Well, Maybe An Oak…

Well, Maybe An Oak…

The Mighty OakToday I found this picture on a Facebook Page I frequent. I had to post it. The digital scrapbook page was created by Sandy Norman with Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus 3.0.

The way the branches curve and tangle amaze me. I wonder if the years of contrary winds caused this.  Oak trees can grow to be over 300 years old! It almost looks as if it’s in pain and yet beautiful at the same time..

Take a look at the trunk of the tree, strong and solid.  I would imagine that the root system would need to be deep to support a tree of this size.  The strong trunk and deep roots are the foundation for the beautiful branches.

Like the oak…It’s so important that our foundation is strong and solid with deep roots.  I shared yesterday that during our problems my friends and I chose to believe that God was strengthening us.  Building our roots and trunk so to speak. If we don’t have our foundation built in something strong and solid, when the torrents of life come, will we fall to destruction?

While looking at this picture, I was wondering about the water it must need; it’s beautiful branches; and of course the fruit (acorns) it produces; I could go on and on.  The similarities or analogies of this Might Oak and a Mighty God are many. But I’ll wrap it up by saying “I know that my foundation is built on a rock, a solid, strong rock.  The rock of Jesus Christ.”

Hebrews 13:8  “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”

Luke 6:48  “He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.”

Psalm 62:6 “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken”
