There is Freedom

There is Freedom

There is Freedom Today is Independence Day, July 4th, Fireworks Day….what do you call the day, when we as a nation, celebrate our Independence?  It may depend on your age, as I remember when I was a little girl referring to this day as “Fireworks Day”.    It wasn’t until the Bi-Centennial celebration in 1976 that I remember realizing the significance of this day.  I was a woppin’ 13 and the United States was 200 years old. It was a BIG DEAL, and I was beginning to understand the importance, but not fully, as I also remember attending high school and being bored during History class. I just could not understand WHY anyone would want to know all the boring details of the past.  Today,…I wish I would have paid more attention in those classes, and I truly realize how blessed this country is.  God has blessed the United States and I pray that our freedom is not taken for granted, however, true personal freedom comes from a relationship with Jesus.

While pondering about the subject of today’s post.  I like that word, “pondering”, because I never really just sit and “think” about what to write, it’s like an inspiring thought or idea that I mull over, pray about, write notes on, and of course, think through.    Back to the subject at hand…today’s post….the idea of freedom, was being pondered, and a song popped into my head. I love it when a worship song hits the perfect spot for a post, this one…Freedom Reigns by Jason Upton

There is a different kind of freedom that you feel when you have a relationship with Jesus. The freedom of knowing that everything is going to be “ok”, that things are exactly as they are meant to be, and that giving up the “control” to God is such a relief, a distinct freedom. This freedom has nothing to do with “religion”, its in the relationship, in knowing the one who know knows and loves you just the way you are.

Some of the words to the song say…”where the spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom”,  “If your tired and your weary, there is Freedom, Freedom reigns in this place, showers of mercy and grace, We lift our eye’s to Jesus, there is freedom”

As you spend your day celebrating the independence of our wonderful country, if you are broken hearted or the weight of the world feels like it’s on your shoulders. If you need some relief and you wonder how or when you won’t feel this way….remember, that there is FREEDOM and you can have it too.

It’s a gift….just ask.

Enjoy!

2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom.
